Matthieu Pommier is, in our view, one of the most compelling and significant figures in the French mural art scene today. He began his career painting walls in Brittany—an Atlantic region that we might, somewhat chauvinistically, call the French Galicia—where the port landscape, maritime culture, and close relationship with the ocean profoundly shaped his artistic vision.

His work brings together mural painting and studio practice through a richly coloured figurative language in which memory, architecture, and everyday objects combine to create scenes that remain open to interpretation. Positioned somewhere between reality and imagination, his compositions invite viewers to uncover narratives that unfold naturally while retaining a subtle sense of mystery.
