LIDIA CAO
Ordes, Galicia (1997)
Trained in illustration, her work stands out for its minimalist and emotional aesthetic, focused on the human figure and especially on female portraits that convey introspection.
Her murals, executed with a limited palette and flat colors, feature characters with serene gazes and restrained expressions, in compositions where visual pause takes on a strong prominence. The use of clean lines, defined contours, and neutral backgrounds allows viewers to focus on the emotional dimension of her figures.
Cao has intervened on walls in various cities across Europe and participated in international urban art festivals. Although her visual language is direct and recognizable, she avoids over-explanation, favoring a subtle narrative that leaves room for personal interpretation.
Her work reflects a constant search for balance between the intimate and the monumental, the everyday and the symbolic. In each intervention, Lidia Cao transforms public space into a place of pause, reflection, and silent contact between the viewer and the image.
